Green Construction Supplies

With so much attention focused on our environment these days, even builders are doing their part to be more eco-friendly. By using green construction supplies, they make sustainable housing from recycled materials.

Panelized construction, or structural insulated panels (SIPs) is one example of utilizing green construction supplies. These panels are made by putting foam plastic between two skins of strand board – the result is a lightweight, eco-friendly material used in homes and light commercial buildings.

Using SIPs costs about the same as using as wooden framing, but they require shorter installation and are more efficient in insulation. These panels are green construction supplies because they reduce the need for energy-consuming heat and AC.
