Building Material

Some of our most trusted, tried-and-true building material is found naturally. Since ancient times, many cultures have used sand, wood and rocks to build their dwellings, a practice that has persevered into the 21st century.

What wood is commonly used as building material?

• Cedar
• Pine
• Larch
• Redwood
• Spruce

While the above woods are softwoods, examples of hardwood building material include beech, ash and maple. These woods differ by having a higher density and, obviously, hardness.
